5. Will your office check with my insurance (for pre-authorization) for treatment?
At Weiss Medical Associates, we try to make receiving the care you need as easy as possible. As a courtesy to our patients, our billing office will verify insurance for all new patients, as well as for any in-office procedures (such as MRI) that may be ordered. Once our office has spoken with your insurance company, we will contact you prior to your appointment to inform you of any special co-pays or patient responsibility that will be necessary for your upcoming visit or procedure. It is necessary that we have all pertinent demographic and insurance information in order to do this on your behalf.
6. Can I use Weiss Medical Associates Open MRI if I am not a patient of Dr. Weiss?
Yes. Weiss Medical Associates Open MRI was created to serve the needs of physicians and their patients throughout Colorado. This means any physician can refer patients to us, and any patient can opt to schedule their MRI here.
In order to schedule an MRI appointment while under the care of another physician, we will need an MRI Referral Form to be completed and faxed by your doctor. These forms are already available in most physician offices, or available to download and print on our Patient Forms page. In addition to the referral form (which should contain diagnosis as well as scans ordered), we will need all pertinent demographic information, as well as a copy of your insurance card (front and back) in order for us to obtain pre-authorization from your insurance company.
Advantages of using Weiss Medical Associates Open MRI include lower average costs, open air design to ensure comfort and help prevent claustrophobia, patient-friendly hours and scheduling, and flexible payment options. Click here to learn more about our Open MRI.
7. Who reads your MRI scans?
For over 20 years, Dr. Weiss has read scans pertaining to his field of specialty—the brain, spine and nervous system—with great accuracy. All other scans performed at Weiss Medical Associates Open MRI are read by Boulder Radiology in Boulder, Colorado. With an “online” partnership and team of a half dozen experienced radiologists available full-time, images are read with speed and precision, allowing your physician to accurately diagnose and treat your injury or health condition.
8. How can I get a copy of my medical records?
As a patient of Weiss Medical Associates, you are entitled under federal law to access your personal protected health information maintained in a “designated record set.” In order to process your request, please fill out and fax the Request for Medical Records form found. Completed forms may be faxed to (970) 777-5161.
