Gary M Weiss, MD
Dr. Gary M Weiss is board certified in neurology and electrodiagnostic medicine. After completing the six-year Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in Chicago, he trained at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At Mayo Clinic, he learned to adhere to the words of Dr. William Mayo, “the best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered.”
Voted one of “America’s Top Physicians” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America, Dr. Weiss has served on the Practice Parameter Committee of the State of Florida and was appointed ombudsman for Central Florida by the governor. He is a member of numerous local, state and international medical societies, a published author of a number of research studies including one in Science magazine, and has lectured throughout the United States and internationally.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Weiss serves as director for two non-profit organizations. Founded by wife, therapist Cathleen Brooks Weiss, Next Step®Institute incorporates the best of modern Western medicine with Eastern, Native American and other holistic healing practices to help patients achieve optimal wellness of the mind, body and spirit. Dr. Weiss also founded and presides over Action for Children, a non-profit organization with a strong history of creating and funding innovative programs for developing healthy habits for youth.
In 2006, Dr. Weiss made a permanent home in Vail, Colorado, with his wife and six children. When not practicing medicine or enjoying the Colorado mountains with his family, Dr. Weiss can be found at the Battle Mountain High School gymnasium, where he coaches the boys’ basketball C team.
